Metric 14mm x 1.25 pedal threads are slightly smaller diameter than British 9/16-20 TPI threads (by about .010" or 0.25mm) but the thread pitch is very close.

I've got a spare set of Shimano clipless pedals that I thought I might try on my 1974 TdF. It's got the Stonglight cranks and I'm not sure if the threading will match up with the modern pedals. Question

......have you thought about stripping the bike (of parts, not paint), cleaning and regreasing the bearings, polishing all of the paint and aluminum, and replacing the bar wrap, tires, cables, etc.? ...
