First I will look after some french lyotard pedals. If i dont find them i will consider to change the crankset, since the french threading is not so widespread and a replacement set ...

It is getting harder to find vintage 14M pedals in good condition.

Arte there any stronglight cranks from 1976 to 1981 with 16/9 threading? If yes, I would change the cranks first

M14 means French threading for pedals unless someone has enlarged the pedal threads to take 9/16 pedals. This is done on occasion so it is easier to fit almost any pedal style/brand. It will be best t ...

Check the back of the crank arms. It may say 9/16 or 14/125 (french).

Here's what I would expect on a 1976 TdF:

Lyotard 460D Pedals


Do you know what kind of threading my pedals are? 16/9 or different? How can I found out by myself?

Sorry, it was my old term for the rear freewheel sprocket cluster. This one in the ad appears to have a 8 sprocket freewheel or 8 rear speeds. Gitanes from the year of yours and my bike were 5 or 6 ...

Hi, as I mentioned, blue ones come up regularly for sale in France.

Not bad for $100. But maybe the rear 8 cog spreads the stays?

The brake bridges were made of cheap sheet metal rolled into a tube shape.


I thought its all 531 Reynolds?

Yes, he rear brake mounting bolt is short. And since nothing aint broken, theres no reason to fix, like you said, except putting a radius spacer in between in the near future.
