That "D" ring style outer nut was used on a Simplex shifter model dating from 1984 (see photo). The shifters you show do not show up in that catalog. Out of curiosity, are the levers alloy or steel (magnetic)? Better photos with detail may help, especially of the Simplex markings. Jay _________________ Dance like nobody is watching. It looks like they used the Simplex Retrofriction lever design but are straight friction without the Retrofriction mechanism. My 1979 Bertin has what was probably the last generation of the plastic caped alloy levers that came out in the late 60s for use with the Criterium derailleurs. They have "aerodynamic" plastic wingnuts! I would think that your levers may be a replacement for this style. Your levers should fit on standard brazed on mounts. _________________ Chas. The shifters you have are shown in the 1984 Simplex catalog. Model SJ 6311. Go to the Velobase web site, 3/4 down the home page is a link to "Catalog Scans". Click and then go down to the 1984 Simplex .zip file. After download go to "scan0008" which is page 9. You will find the shifters there. Jay _________________ Dance like nobody is watching.
