Hey guys. I am new to this forum. I got this bike a few weeks ago and I was wondering if anyone can help with some information on it? The bike weights around 18lbs. It has a 531 Reynolds sticker on the fork and frame. All of the components are campy except for the bars and stem. Wheels are mavic. I took some pictures yesterday for a better look. Any info on this model would be greatly appreciated.

Greetings and welcome to the Forum.
Your bike is a 1974 or 1975 Gitane Super Pista model and everything but maybe the saddle looks original.
The Gitane decal on the head tube is from 1974-75 but the decorative logo decals on the seat stay tops didn't come out until 1976.
In 1974 Reynolds changed the design of their decals from the kind that you have on your bike to ones with a gold address block.
It's possible that Gitane had some older Reynolds decals in stock and used them on your bike.
I've never seen a Gitane track bike from that era with a chrome fork - or in purple either.
Are you riding it with the seat that low? If so, the frame may be too big for you. |

Thank you that helps alot! and yes it is too big for me.
It was a spur of the moment buy after seeing it was a Gitane with the campy components. I was sold on the bike and it needed a good home.
And don't worry! There will be NO drilling done to this find. |

Super machine and in such excellent condition. I really like the colour not to mention the equipment.
We've seen many Reynolds transfers in a similar condition to yours, they do tend to deteriorate over time. I've had the same issue. I clear coat mine to protect them from going any further.
Do post to the Owner Gallery at some point.
Well done on the find and thanks for the post.
