Yeah I got the wheels back this weekend, and I think they look awsome!!
I also found some "white" tires, not really white but they call 'm white.
As promised here some pics of the drumbrake.
They are still a bit greasy from mounting the spokes and all, so they need to be cleaned a bit.
Here's the hub with the drumbrake hanging out.
It just slides in, and is mounted between the axlebolt and the rear dropouts.
Here the inside of the hub.
You can see the brake pads in the hub
Other side of the drumbrake, this is the part that slides over the axle seen from the "inside" .
Total wheel with the white tire, great!!!

Thanks for the images of the Rear Brake Drum Assy. As much as I someday would hope to acquire a Tandem (my spouse says I ride too Fast ---I think she recalls pacing me with her Yamahopper 30 years ago, I'm not quite as KamiKaze these days---and certainly slower now) it likely will not happen. So I apreciate the images---curious to see how it was engineered.
I Like Steel !!!!

Thanks guys!!
The tires are actually Swalbe tires in the original size, 26" x 1 3/8.
I bought them at my local bikeshop.
He didn't have them in stock but could order them elsewhere.
The project is almost finished now.
My girlfriend's birthday is next friday, so little time left haha.
It's pretty much finished, everything is clean, polished and mounted.
To bad it's getting darker now, because I can't take good pictures when it's dark.
So no pics during te build.
Off course when it is done I will post some in the "owners gallery". |
