Hi , I am putting up for sale my very nice Gitane TDF. It is the blue one as seen in the Photos section under "Done".
This bike is on display in my office and Its the one I never use. It was stored in house for around 30 years and bought from the original owner here in France.
Short lug frame with brazed on stay caps etc.
I added the Stronglight 93 bis cranks, nos Maillard pedals and the LJS derailleurs and retrofriction shifters. The newer seat was added by the original owner who also added a shorter stem (said when bought bike) and The pump and water bottle are original.
This is a perfect bike never restored and never even cleaned up. Its just very nice.
It is here in France in the Paris area and I cannot ship.
550 euros. (worth it)

Finally went for roughly 525 dollars. Bought by a Gitane fan.
I had 3 people interested in the bike over the last month.
Prices are rising slightly here in France but excellent bikes still go for under
50 dollars.

Dan,
Bike looks great, glad that it went to a Gitane fan.
Something that I just noticed, this bike has Nervex Dubois short point lugs like PX-10s rather than the usual Bocama long point lugs.
I've recently seen pictures of another mid 70s Gitane with those same lugs.  |
