I found a gitane bike and am wondering if it is worth anything or should I just take it to the Salvation Army. This is what I think I know.
It is a Grand Sport de Luxe, white with fenders.
Head and tail lights. Simplex 10 spd. Pivo handlebar. Brakes have weinman 610 and vainqueur 999 on them. Rigida rims. Considerable rust spots that could be removed if you spent the time. I think it is an early 70's bike. If anyone can ad any information or is interested in the bike please let me know. Thank you.

The early 70's Gitane TdF is my all-time favorite ride. I prefer it to the "legendary" Peugeot PX10. I have both. Put it on eBay if you don't want it. I might buy it if it fits. |

Don't dump it at the salvation army (if it is a TdF)! Ebay usually brings a few hundred dollars, depending on the size and condition of the bike....or you could make it available to list members here first...but Ebay is almost a sure thing. Post some pics...would love to see it. |
