Howdy.
I just bought this (1985? 1986?) Champion. It's exactly like one I had, but didn't appreciate, when I was 15.
Can Weinmann replacement hoods be had for less than $25 per pair?
I may try to upgrade some bits. Is there any market for those drivetrain components and wheels?
I haven't met the bike yet--I should get it a couple days after Christams--but according to the '85-'86 catalog, here's what the Champion came with:
Solida 5271 crankset (52-42)
Huret Club front derailleur
Huret Eco rear derailleur
Huret Rival shifters
Maillard 14-28 6-speed freehweel
The wheels in the photos I have are Weinmann 215 rims and hubs I can't identify, although the catalog says the bike came with Mavic Mod 3 rims and Atom Sport hubs.
