Stuck Seat Post

My 72 supper corsa is sporting a 26.4 record seat post that is stuck any ideas.Is this the correct post? Also my pivo stem seems to be stuck to.thank you

26.4 should be the correct size. It's likely the age old alloy to steel reaction which has frozen the posts. The penetrating oil of choice and patience will do the trick. Numerous applications over a period of time and gentle persuasion after each.

When reinstalling alloy to steel apply some anti-seize compound (from Auto Parts Store) to prevent it from happening again. Also great for steel pedal axle threads into alloy crank arms.

I've had the best success using Coca-Cola with the bike upside down.

(You'll probably never drink the stuff again after seeing how it perfroms in this role.)

Most recently it was because I had stuck a long mountain bike seatpost down past the butted section of a Reynolds 501 bike.
