Hi, first of all excuse me for my english Very Happy
I just bought this gitane bike in Paris, the logo is engraved on the top of the fork, the saddle bar is campagnolo, the wheels are mavic ones, there is a logo campagnlo engraved at the back of the bike on the part which hold the wheel (drop out?)

On french forum they say that it's a "Olympic" from early 80's, but the drop out is not the same..
What is your feeling about it?[/img]

Welcome to the forum. Sounds like a top of the line bicycle...but the pictures didn't post. Please provide a link or try and repost them!

Got them!

The seatpost is not original: Either a Campagnolo C-Record or Chorus (?), but not original to the frameset. The rust on the chrome parts can be easily removed with some copperwool which is available at your local hardware store. Steel wool works too, but may damage the chrome if you scrub too hard.

Also, for future reference: Always take the picture of the "drive side" of the bicycle: The right side which shows the crankset and derailleurs. Makes for less questions!

Will have to look at the catalogues for the model/year of the frame....

The frameset is odd in that the chrome on the seat stays extends all the way to above the brake bridge....
