The first time I saw the Tour was on "Wide World of Sports" in 1986. It was the production with the background music by John Tesh, and commentary by Phil Ligget. It was the TTT, with Systeme U riding their Deltas and DiscJet wheels. Phil was talking about "those black moon wheels". That had a big impact on an innocent 14 year old boy riding a Mongoose BMX!!!!! So, I would say the Systeme U teams of 85-88. |

Systeme U, 85-88, just because that is when I first started watching the sport. The delta's were, no doubt, the best. I really liked the 1988 team pro as well (still waiting for one of those!).
The 1987 team bikes had really cool decals, which, unfortunatly, I had a full set of but used on a bike at the time. They included the "systeme U" stripes on a Gitane Blue frame. difficult to get good shots of those today, but I do have a cool poster of Mottet on a delta which has those decals. |

Pretty goofy, for sure. But you have to like the whole "bumble bee" thing going on there.... |

1988 was the "ultimate" in integration regarding the kit and bike. At that time, it was pretty trick to have everything match like that. I have the pantographed Gitane stem, which is waiting for the 753 Replica frame.... |

Well...going to sell some stuff in the collection, incuding my current mid-80's frame, and an early 1970's Super Corsa...plus some miscellaneous parts. I have to break even on this one, I think. If anyone is interested, let me know! |

Mid-1980s - Purchased from Gitane...not original decals, but original finish.
1970's Super Corsa (frame only), original finish and decals (except for the Reynolds 531 decal, which is a reproduction - the orig. was almost totally gone). |
