Hello,
I have a "Gitane Fitz Roy 10-T" and I do love it and I do love riding it,too!
I have 2 questions about this bike.
1-what are the differences among this and the FitzRoy 15, 15-T, 20, ZT and 20-T?
2-is there any tips for the FitzRoy 10-T that I should know?
I wait for your answers.
Thanks. |

Well...most of the people who are drawn to this site are owners of vintage or new road bicycles...not so many mountain bike fans!
Also...what if you post a picture or link for the model, you'll get a better response! |

Agreed - here in the USA we don't have Gitane mtb's - heck, new Gitane bikes so a photo goes a long way in knowing what bike you are specifically referring to. |

Again, my apologies, but most of the people here just don't have information about the new mountain bikes. You have to understand that the mountain bikes came out in the early 1990's...just when Gitane stopped exporting to the USA! So most of the contributors here just don't have any information to provide, because like me, they've never even seen a Gitane mountain bike! |

Hi Danoosh,
Great to hear from a member from Iran! I do not think that I have a good answer. As others have mentioned, Gitane in the U.S. has, historically, focused on road bikes. As of the 2010 catalogue (I am not sure what year your model is), Gitane lists two Fitz Roy models only; the Fitz Roy 1.0 and the 2.0. Both seem to be spec'd with aluminum frames and Shimano 21 speed groups. That on the 2.0, the Tourney 51 might well be a bit more high end than the Tourney 21 on the 1.0. No, this is not really a good answer as we have not really nailed the specs on yours. It's is nice bike, nevertheless! Gitane began listing some mountain bikes in the U.S. in 1989; (no catalogue available to the best of my knowledge, listings in Bicycling and Bicycle Guide magazines for that year, only).
In 1991, Gitane, U.S.A. listed two steel mountain bikes, including the elegant Tenere with a Columbus Max frame and Shimano XT 735 groupset at $1,720.00 U.S. What a bike! Best luck with yours.

Thanks for your answers. Mine is 2010 model. I like it a lot.
Here's a list that shows you the specs of the bike:
*Equipped with Shimano Tourney 21 system (I think the bike is one of the FitzRoy 1.0 series, because according to what Peter S. Horn said, it has the Tourney 21 system.)
*Rear Derailleur: Altus (Silver)
*Front Derailleur: Tourney 42T
*EZ Fire Plus
*V-Brakes
*Suntour XCT v2 (for FitzRoy 10-T 2010) - Suntor XCT v3 (for the 2011 model) Suspensions
*American MAXXIS tires [26"x1.95 Black]
*Italian saddle (Selle Royal)
More information of the 2010 FitzRoy 10-T bike (the one I have) come here:

Had no idea that Gitane was in Iran. My father actually was born in Abadan...and then lived in Tehran as a young man, before coming to the USA. |
