Hello all. By way of introduction, I've been cycling all my life. My first derailleur bike was a 5-speed in the mid-60's. First 10-speed was a Peugot UO-8 circa 1969. My latest bikes are a Bianchi Limited (mid-90's) and a Giant Iguana mountain bike. I am, among other things, a writer. (My blog, by way of introduction, is russelnod.com).

I have a request that someone here might be able to help me with. I am writing an on-line book (dannyandmatisse.com) that involves a lot of bicycling. The book is set in 1972 and I am looking for a picture of a purple Gitane, either a Tour de France or a Grand Sport Deluxe to help illustrate it. I am not even sure whether Gitanes were released in purple back then (tho I did find a picture of one), but ideally that's what Christine will ride.

If anyone has a good picture of one, I'd love to add it to the site. There is, of course, no money in fiction, but I would certainly attribute the photo and provide a link.

I do apologize if this is off-topic. Thanks, however, in advance.

Wow. Thanks. I think the two pics from the Craig's List posting will work just fine. Of course, in the story, she has Campy gears, but I can finesse that I think. Also, the "cableless" brake levers--i had them on an Austro Daimler I bought new in 76. Were they around in 72?

How should I credit the pics?
