This shed had been virtually untouched inside for about 10 years... except for at the very front door where the lawnmower was kept. I was putting the mower back inside and I saw the handlebars.
I had to crawl over two inoperable lawnmowers and shove a bunch of lumber out of the way, but I found two bikes back there. One of them is a Vista and this is the other one.
I took pictures in situ before I dragged them out (which wasn't easy as I'm only 5'2" and lifting a bike from the ground to my shoulder isn't exactly effortless). I'm a runner with only a recently developed interest in bikes and biking, so I have no idea what I'm looking at here. Can anyone here tell me?

Cool!
A couple of questions, though - are the handlebars original, do you think? I'm not sure but honestly it's just because the color of the grips, in the light, really classes with the paint color and the bike is just so pretty otherwise.
And I assume from the "Nice!" that you think it's worth fixing up? |

grips might not be ,but eh who cares . the bike is sweet, the matching color of the fenders is what makes this bike in my opinion. i would tend to think that yes the bars would be right in line with the theme of this bike , again just my opinion.
after looking at the link stephen put up yep no doubt ...same bars different grips .....nice bike |

I don't think the bar or handles are original. Look at the brake levers, they belong on drop bars.
I'm not sure, but I don't think the Gran Sport came with lights and a generator like yours has. The hosteller did, but it also had 15 speeds. You only have two chainrings. (front gears)So it's probably a ten speed. None of this quite adds up to any models in the US catalogs.
So it may be a European model similar to the Paris-Tours.

yup those are drop levers , good eye. the paris tours rear racks are different tho , they have a upswing toward the saddle . this rack is straight across. i like how it matches the paint on the fenders. wish we had that 72 catalog . |
