Hi everyone. I own a gitane but i'm not so sure if it's a TDF from the 70'
My Gitane have Campagnolo Dropouts, Nervar front fork.
The bike was repainted by the pre owner but was a por paint and it start to rust and a repainted again .When I strip the paint from BB a saw EDA letters
Seat post is 27.2mm. It came eqiped with Weinnman Type 500 brakes Simplex rear and fron deraileur weinnman wheels with mailard front hub and shimano rear hub and mot to forget about BCM lugs and on some of them is a 73 what represent that number?

Sorry to bring you bad news but your frame is not a Gitane.
Gitane used metric diameter tubing and the seatpost would have been 24.4mm or 24.6mm not 27.2mm.
It's probably a frame from the UK or northwest Europe, maybe even Italy.
The 73 on the BCM (Bocama) lugs is the angle not the year. |
