hi i just picked up this gitane yesterday and i want to know more about it.
it has reynolds tubing but which one i have no clue and it has camoy 1010 drop outs and matching campy drop outs on the fork.

Nice! Top of the line in the early 1970's Gitane tandem. Really nice find.

thanks i was told that is a 69 -70 can you believe i traded a fixie kid a pair of zeus cranks with rings and 2 single speed chains for it

Could be accurate as far as the date is concerned. Could also be of later manufacture...but that date is as good as any!

very cool , i offered him 100 bucks for it . but didnt pull the trigger. did u see the kids tandem from island empire? it was sweet, but she wanted a grand for it then 800.

wow really. and no i didn't see that one people want absurd prices now for things and i blame tv for it. one person come up with a price out of there ass and they become the standard.

oh i understand, i watch ebay and craigs daily . my brother inlaw drives a truck and is always out to cali and new mexico . he said if i find something out there let him know and he can bring it back for me. i use all of craigs to search for gitanes . the highest im paying for a full tandem built up and ridable is about 350 to 450, more toward the top end if its really nice . i didnt want to do a build up on a tandem so i didnt make the deal on your frame, but i did check it out . i like it , its blue . the kids tandem was way cool but like you said people put alot of money (value) on them . she actually got a reply from gitane and they told her it probably was rare . right there the price went thru the roof. i told her i didnt want to offend her so i didnt even offer, she had it for years , her mom had it like 28 yrs before that. all the cool gitanes ive seen are on the west coast or in wisconsin, scratches head.
team pro frames go for about 350 to 450 , the super corsa frames come in just below them, then so on down the line . now this is just what im willing to pay, others may have a different value for them , but this is what ive seen by watching ebay and craigs. now for some odd reason the light blue super corsa with the foil decals always go for like 600 bucks on ebay . this is a full bike. and i think its a 60's bike? i dont know why they are coveted but they are. all the crazy gitanes and i guess you could throw the kids tandem in this group, its hard to gauge value cause they are so weird . then you have the group of bikes like the deltas and the actual real team bikes. just my two cents on these great bikes . the older bikes maybe chas can help out by the look of his sig ?
