Picked up a pretty sweet Mixte from a friends grandparents. Looks to be purchased in 70's from Lynch's Bicycles in Los Altos Ca. Has simplex derailleurs, Weinmann Brakes, the number "78" stamped on the fork tube. A little bit of surface rust is no problem for the trusty Never-Dull! Cleaning up for the Girl. Any input would be greatly appreciated, and I will post my picks when I I get her road ready! Cheers[img][/img]

Appears to be an early 1970's Grand Sport Deluxe, in nice shape! I love that gold color...so 70's!

"Mixte" bikes were not girls bikes, but were sold as such in the USA. In fact, many workers preferred these, because they were stronger than your average "men's" bike and could carry heavier loads. But I digress....

The '78' stamped in the lug is the lug angle, not a date stamp. Gitane did not fill or file out its lug stamps, leading to some confusion amongst owners new to Gitane's quirks.
