Hello everyone!
I have a vintage folding gitane, but unfortunately the lever that secures the center of the frame has gone missing. It's a long bolt of about 1 cm diameter that slides into the center of the frame and connects the front and back parts. I've contacted bike repair shops and checked the gitane website and ebay, but no luck. Does anybody know how to get this part, or perhaps create a makeshift one?
Regards,
Shai |

Took this off my folder for you to see. The part that attaches to the screw bolt is milled down but not all the way around. |

The second pic the is the thumb screw sliding over the shaft of the connecting pin. Notice theres no clearance between bolt and pin . Next pic is the thumb screw setting where the milled part is . There is a little bit of a gap between thumb screw and pin because of the pin being milled . When you tighten the thumb screw it pulls the screw tight on the pin . When you turn the pin the part that isnt milled pulls everything tight. It looks like about a quarter of the pin isnt milled. I could see after awhile the pin breaking at that milled point. Or the retainer clip came off and the pin came out. |
