Hi, I'm in the process of restoring a '72 TDF. Curfently it's at a body shop being stripped and painted.
I'm in need of one MAFAC comp shoe. I'm missing a shoe. I bought new Kool Stop pads, but down a shoe. If anyone has a spare to sell, let me know.
Ps you can see about the TDF and see photos at:

Thanks,
Steve |

MAFAC brakes were used on millions of bikes over the 35+ year lifetime of the company.
You should be able to find them on eBay. You might have an easier time finding a "donor" caliper and use it for replacement parts.
Check around any bike shop that's been in business for a while, they may have some MAFAC calipers in a junk box.
In the 1970s we used to import boxed sets of MAFAC Racers and sell them wholesale for $12. The had 2 calipers, 2 levers plus all of the cables and parts needed.
Shops bought them at that price to use for spare parts.
If all else fails get back to me....

Thanks for your guidance Verktyg! I have missed two recent opportunities on eBay to score just a pair of shoes. I'm sure they'll surface again. A guy locally has a pair of calipers for $20. Probably worth just picking them up and to have spare parts, if need be.
And thanks for the offer. I'll let you know how it goes. |

Steve: In searching for the proper parts for the restoration and appearance of the correct Mafac brake pad/shoe.
BUt if you just need brake pads and not concerned about authentic.
I have utilized the Bike Nashbar Part # NB-CSBP cantilever brake pads, on some of my Gitanes.
I did find a couple Mafac shoes---you are welcome to them---my concern is they may not align properly as the post appears to be slightly bent from the pad holder.
send a PM if interested and I'll forward them.
