I'm preparing to tear down my father's TdF to prep it for a strip/powder coat (good lessons learned from [mention] aaceve7[/mention] and his thread). Anyway, I was documenting stickers and parts and such before I remove them all and saw this 72 on the top head tube lug. Does it mean the lug was made in '72 or is that purely coincidental. The reason I ask is because my father bought it in '74, but the bike has features that lead me to believe it is actually a '73. So could it be a '72, or was the lug simply mass produced in '72 and eventually got used in '73... or it means nothing at all?
As you can see, the condition of the paint is pretty horrible and not salvageable. There are other places where it looks like someone took a scraper to the paint and removed whole sections of it. So touch-ups wouldn't work, hence the powdercoating. I'll let you know how it turns out this spring.

Bocama stamped the angles into the lugs. The top tub-head tube lugs came in 72° to 75° same with the seat tube lugs. The different angles allowed for geometry and frame size corrections.
Bocama Lug Spec Sheet:
The bike is probably a 1972 or 73 model with medium point Bocama Professional lugs. before that Gitane used long point Prugnat S4 lugs like on the Super Corsas.
