Horn Joined: 15 Oct 2007 Posts: 144 Hi Stephan, Referencing Velo News' feature "What the Tour teams ride", I'm noting 1990 for Histor-Sigma (Gitane-Vitus GTI-Stronglight/Sachs) and 1992 for RMO (Gitane TVT Carbon (and Columbus Genius. sic)-Mavic). In 1990, they went to the hideous striped Toshiba design. In 89, Systeme U went to Raleigh bikes. Toshiba went with Gitane. I wonder if that is when ONCE started up? In L-B-L, the break was Delgado, Kelly, Anderson and Fabrice Philipot from Toshiba riding on a Look carbon. The next page show J.F. Bernard in the Amstel riding a white Gitane with yellow & black decals & stripes. Philipot in Dauphine on Look. I'm wrong about ONCE, it was still Caja Rural & they rode Orbea. So, perhaps Toshiba riders had a choice? Seems odd to have two bike sponsors though....... Histor on Gitane. Interesting: Histor jersey has Vitus on it.
