So was it definitely 1990? I know that they sponsored RMO for one season...I thought it was 1993....

Question
Hi Stephan,
Referencing Velo News' feature "What the Tour teams ride", I'm noting 1990 for Histor-Sigma (Gitane-Vitus GTI-Stronglight/Sachs) and 1992 for RMO (Gitane TVT Carbon (and Columbus Genius. sic)-Mavic). I'm not sure if the team extended into 1993.
Best Regards,
Pete H.

Wisey,
Great pictures of those Toshiba Deltas! I had, of course, seen the Renault and Systeme U versions, but these are the first Toshiba models that I was aware of.
Thanks,

It would appear to be the same graphics as on the initial bike that started this post. Maybe the seller was right???

This is very interesting. Do we have any side on shots of the team on their road bikes or a better shot of the image that began the discussion, Lofter?

It's great to read everyone's comments in trying to refine the detail.

Peter, do you have a few shots of your bike that you could post?

Great stuff.

So...I looked, and it appears that Toshiba last wore those jerseys in 1989...(Toshiba/Karcher). In 1990, they went to the hideous striped Toshiba design. Interesting that they wouldn't be riding Look badged bicycles though.

That adds up. In 89, Systeme U went to Raleigh bikes. Toshiba went with Gitane. I wonder if that is when ONCE started up? They used Looks in the early years.

Just dug out the 89 year book. In L-B-L, the break was Delgado, Kelly, Anderson and Fabrice Philipot from Toshiba riding on a Look carbon. The next page show J.F. Bernard in the Amstel riding a white Gitane with yellow & black decals & stripes. Philipot in Dauphine on Look. I'm wrong about ONCE, it was still Caja Rural & they rode Orbea. So, perhaps Toshiba riders had a choice? Seems odd to have two bike sponsors though....... (all the delta pics are 89)

1990 TdF: JFB in stripey Toshiba jersey on Look carbon. Histor on Gitane. Interesting: Histor jersey has Vitus on it. ONCE on Look road bikes, and Otero TT bikes(steel).
