lofter,

Lookin' good but what's that radar array on the front end? Laughing

I just finished doing some work on my 1967 Peugeot PX-10. It was a completely original "barn bike" when I got it last month. The whole bike was covered with 20+ years of dust and dirt but no rust.

I'm just doing some minor rideability changes for now. I put on wider pedals, wider bars and a shorter stem. Also changed the brake cables to stainless steel but I kept the old brake cable housing because they still looked OK. The old Mafac brake pads still stop good. Shocked

It's starting to look good for a 40 year old bike but my TdF from the same era is a nicer riding bike.

I stripped my late 60s TdF down and gave the frame a good cleaning, polishing and touch up. It too was a barn bike. I've repacked the headset and BB now it's time to start reassembling it.

If I like the way it rides I'm going to have it painted orange and put on a new set of the silver foil decals that are in the works. Speaking of which, Greg has a new set of Gitane decals listed om eBay. They're the style with the square blocks.

Lofter...nice bike. Should look great with the panniers. Do you actually use the "LeMond" bars? That is a LOT going on in the front there. Do those come with airbags?

Just giving you a hard time...the bike looks great.

Looks like the radar array on the nose of a WWII night fighter. Laughing

WOW, Nice job Lofter. Your work on the bar tape is incredibly well done - masterful. That bike is going to be a joy to ride.

Nice bike! I'll bet you can't wait to hit the road on that, eh? Long rides will be nice on that. I like the way the bike seems almost too long for the rear fender. Really cool angles on the Grantour.

Hey lofter,

When are you going to take it out and get it dirty? Twisted Evil

The proof of the pudding...... Laughing

BTW, if you get tired of the DuoPar, the long arm Simplex works almost as well.

I finished up a 1980 brand M touring bike with a Stronglight 99 triple and Simplex derailleurs. I'm running a 7sp Suntour Winner freewheel and one of the latest 8sp SRAM chains. It shifts smooth as silk, much better than any of the Campy or Japanese long arm friction shift RDs. Cool

Looks good,

Chas.

lmao ,oh when it gets warm around here . i hate the cold . ive been mapping out a route frome here to get me to the katy trail in missouri. its about 120 to 130 miles from here to the start of the trail . then the trail goes for 220 miles almost all the way across missouri. about 350 miles for my first tour. there working on the section to hook it to kansas city . a bike path all the way across missouri will be awsome.would also like to go across indiana and up into ohio to sandusky .and also up north to the wisconson dells. i didnt have tools for the bb so i had to have the lbs do that , then i rode it home . it was great, no panniers on it at that time tho.
