Thanks for the link.

The owner of my favorite LBS told me of his visit to the Gitane factory in the 1970s. He said that there was a big guy with a very large rubber mallet who visually inspected the frames after brazing. He'd give the ones that were out of alignment a whack with the rubber mallet and send them on to painting.

From my experience assembling some of those early Gitanes i can beleive what he said.! Rolling Eyes

Thanks for posting. Very interesting indeed.

I very much like the era that the book relates to, just prior to the early 80's, and the emergence of new technologies, styles, designs and riders.
