So...I have decided to cull the herd, in order to take my wife somewhere on our tenth wedding anniversary. Here is what will be going on ebay, if there is no interest here first:

(1) 1984 Gitane "Gran Tour" frameset (53cm). Includes headset. English thread, by the way.- $350

(2) 1987 Gitane "Inter" Frameset (54cm), with a cool story and my first Gitane (purchased from Gitane USA in 1988...when they were closing down). Includes Mavic headset. English thread. A little bit of rust on the top tube, but nothing major. Otherwise, in great shape. Decals are not, of course, original. $400

(3) 1976 Gitane "Interclub" or "Tour de France" Frameset (56cm) - originally a trade from Australia (our friend Wisey). English thread. - $250

I am willing to entertain reasonable offers on the parts pictured on the bikes as well. Also, I will, of course, consider reasonable offers on the above bikes as well. Please contact me via "private message" about them.

I still have plenty of Gitane bikes, but need to make some room in the garage, and plus, this will allow me to add to the bikes in the future. But I would like to take my wife on a vacation this summer, which is the real reason for parting with these bikes.

Stephan,

Thanks for the offer of the machines - very inviting. Looks like a C Record Chainset on number 1! Was that a tough decision?

Will the holiday be in France, in July?

Tim

Nope...holiday will not be in Europe, unfortunately. She has always wanted to go to a beach (even though we live 5 minutes from the beach), so that is what I aim to do. And please no questions as to whether or not it is difficult to part with stuff. I think you all know the answer. I would much rather it go to the good folks here, though. And I really do have the bikes I have always wanted (at the moment)...the 1987, 1984, and a modern everyday rider, plus a few others....so it isn't like I don't have bikes to ride!

Ooohh! Stephan that '87 is mighty tempting. Unfortunately I have a similar problem. I've been promising my dad a retirement trip to Los Angeles for some Dodgers games for quite awhile. Well, this year is the year so I'm saving the pennies, dimes and nickels for the trip in June. It should be a lot of fun.

Hopefully someone here will get the bikes from you.

Scott
