I'll have to check for overspray.

Thanks for the info as to where the decals should be (if on the right bike!) I would like to eventually get this thing done up with the correct color and decal scheme.

Those decals were never meant for the Team Pro. Here is what I think it should look like:

Here are some more pics of my 1987 Team Pro with some of the stuff I "discovered" about them. Looking for a picture of the front dropouts, and how they were finished. If all else fails, I will have to walk into my garage and take a look.

AHHH- Now I see what you meant when you mentioned how the fork ends are filed. I'll do a shot with a front view of the fork ends and we'll see how they match up.

How hard would it be to scrounge up a correct decal set? Ebay or some other web store?

I'll settle for correct color and decals- or maybe just the decals. Red is kind of interesting and my Performance is the same red.

There is a guy on Ebay who makes them (cyclomondo). He took the design off of one I had made for the decals. Since that time, I came across a bunch of NOS decals from France. I only have the head tube and down/seat tube decals.

The Reynolds 531c decal you can also get from Cyclomondo, he even has the French one -- but it is the "repaint" version. He has the standard version in English. I think some of the Gitane's in the USA were sold with the English version.

Here is a link to his store on ebay:

Pretty sure that is a respray, but it is definitely a top quality frameset (1987 Team Pro, most likely).

I looked in the steerer of the fork and couldn't see any evidence of another color but I didn't look all that hard Wink

I may pull the fork and look in the head tube just for the hell of it.

You know, it could be that the red was original, and it was made for a specific team or store, because that color red was offered by Gitane at that time. Who knows...maybe it was a "special" order? I don't know if Gitane did that, but they might have. The decal placement is all off though....
