Zach,
It's my belief that it would be best to get a set of the correct period decals for restoration. It serves by not confusing someone in the future or questioniing if it is the real thing.

Take detailed measurments for proper placement.

Jay...tending to be Period Correct.

I would never call what I am doing a restoration. There will be many incorrect parts on this bike. I just want to get it looking and riding good and save it from becoming a fixie.

If I was to ever sell this bike I would disclose what it is and explain it to the buyer. The foil decals just dont do it for me. I might change my mind but for now the plan is the later decals.

OK. It's still a Gitane.

Full disclosure is the important part. After that, heck...it's your bike, you do whatever you want to it. I just appreciate the fact that you will take the time to preserve the bike in any fashion at all...and save it from the fixie's hacksaw.

Yeah, This bike is full on fixie fodder. Someone stopped by to buy one of my other bikes and recommended "Single Speed Conversion" after seeing the shape the bike was in. A very sharp NO was my reply. I have no problem with Fixed gears as long as its a proper frame. If it was made with gears it should stay that way.

Well I ordered Decals from Ebay. I bought the red and white 'Olympic' model. Hinault Style from 78-80.

The bike is now a bare frame waiting for paint. I just want to get it painted and rolling again so I can take a break from it for a bit.

I bought an Interclub specc'ed out just like yours (with the exception of Simplex derailleurs) new in 1972 for $150 new at the dealer. it was the same color gold as pictured and was my first "real" bike. I rode the wheels off of that bike! Sold it to "upgrade" to a Viscount in 1976. Wish I had the Interclub back.... Good luck with your rebuild!

Zach: I ordered those a while back as well, and I am sure you are going to be very happy with them. They look great.
