Hi there. I'm new to the form and new to ownership of a Gitane. I just purchased this pretty lil blue girl from my campus bike shop. It had just been donated and I bought it for $150. They are doing some upgrades (tires, bottle cages, speedo, new seat, and a tune up) but it should be ready to ride on a 50 mile bike ride over Labor Day weekend. I'm glad to join the forum. I'll add pictures when I have them. I'm wondering what folks know about the quality of and the worth of this model and any important tips or websites I should be looking at. Later on I might break down and get a Brooks seat, we'll see.

Hi dorm comander. Sorry, I couldn't pronounce your username so I added some vowels till it made sense. Must be an American thing, eh? Wink (OK, so I added some consonants as well.... Rolling Eyes )

Not sure what happened to your pic/link. Would love to see the pics of your new ride. We'll have to wait for the pics to try to figure out what model it might be.

Welcome!

Cheers,

Wisey,

You'd never survive in the regions of the former Czechoslovakia or Yugoslavia!

In Eastern Europe they didn't have the money to buy vowels.
