Hi there. I'm new to the form and new to ownership of a Gitane. I just purchased this pretty lil blue girl from my campus bike shop. It had just been donated and I bought it for $150. They are doing some upgrades (tires, bottle cages, speedo, new seat, and a tune up) but it should be ready to ride on a 50 mile bike ride over Labor Day weekend. I'm glad to join the forum. I'll add pictures when I have them. I'm wondering what folks know about the quality of and the worth of this model and any important tips or websites I should be looking at. Later on I might break down and get a Brooks seat, we'll see. |

Hi dorm comander. Sorry, I couldn't pronounce your username so I added some vowels till it made sense. Must be an American thing, eh? (OK, so I added some consonants as well.... )
Not sure what happened to your pic/link. Would love to see the pics of your new ride. We'll have to wait for the pics to try to figure out what model it might be.
Welcome!
Cheers, |

In Eastern Europe they didn't have the money to buy vowels. |
