Decent looking TDF? with all Campy components currently on EBay. Needs a few pieces, but looks like a nice bike to complete. No relation to the seller. John |

If you are referring to this auction # 230382330099, it could be a Super Corsa if it has Campagnolo drop outs. Hard for me to tell from the poor photos.

Yes, that was the one. It sure disappeared fast; perhaps someone on the forum snagged it? |

Na, it's probably in purgatory on it's way to fixie hell!
It's an early 70s Super Corsa that will probably be parted out. Since there's no brazeons it will make a perfect fixie. I can just hear the hacksaw cutting off the derailleur hanger on the right rear dropout.
The rest of the Campy parts will bring more than $375!

I have no plans on parting this bicycle out. The Super Corsa will be serviced/restored and added to my riding collection.

Congratulations,
Sorry for sounding so cynical. I've seen so many classic bikes parted out over the past 3 years.
I figured the Campy parts were worth almost that much. Hopefully the chrome will be in reasonable condition too.

Glad to hear that someone in the group picked up this bike. It looks like it will be a fun project. Post some photos as you are in process and once it's complete. Enjoy! |

Will do ... in fact, I'm impatiently waiting for my other gitane to return from the restorer ... before the riding season is completely over, unfortunately I don't think its going to happen anytime soon ;-( and the weather is turning for the worse up here in Oregon. I'll post pictures as they come in.
Sincerely,

Restoration vs. Conservation...
That looks like a great bike to do a restoration on. Should look really nice when you're done. Are you going to repaint it? If so, what color?
Here's a link to a neat slide show with before and after pics of a 'conserved" Bianchi:
http://www.speedbicycles.ch/302/compare/win_001.html
It clearly shows what some elbow grease can accomplish. Thorough cleaning and careful polishing can do wonders.
Remember folks bikes look best from 5 feet or more away!
Derailleur Hanger Conservancy
Most fixie fools have never stood out in the wind and rain trying to fix a flat rear tire only to have the rear derailleur fall out when you removed the wheel and the chain twist around the freewheel and you get covered with dirty wet chain grease trying to untwist everything while holding the bike up with the other hand!
That's the beauty of a derailleur hanger!
The first thing that many men look at , well the second thing, when they see an attractive woman is her left hand ring finger!
Whenever someone brought an unfamiliar bike into our shop, if it looked decent, the first thing we checked was to see if it had an integral derailleur hanger. If not, no one wanted to work on it. Better quality bikes had derailleur hangers and were usually easier to work on!
That's why I cringe whenever I see a classic bike that's been "neutered"!
