If you were to do a Gitane restoration, what colour saddle would you use?

Rumour has it that Selle Italia has reissued the Turbo saddle. I have seen pics of a black one on the net, but the rumour I heard was that this has been done in response for the demand in Turbos from the fixie crowd. If this is true, then I would expect that they will be released in every colour under the sun................ including the all important yellow!

They have also released a new version of the TurboMatic for anyone like me who prefers to use the best saddle ever produced Wink .

Wisey,
They have indeed reissued the Turbo saddle. I've found them on Bike Nashbar http://www.nashbar.com/bikes/Product_10053_10052_505245_-1_200321_200276_200413 and Excel Sports website for around $50 U.S. My bike shop said they could order them and wanted to charge $60 so I may go that route and try and talk them down a little. I've seen them on Ebay also. I'll be ordering one up in the next couple of weeks and see how it feels compared to my original Bernard Hinault version. I'm also holding out for the NOS white TurboMatic one my dad has in his basement - he's just not ready to part with it yet.

Right now they come in black or white with a synthetic leather material.

Scott

So now I have 2 worthless NOS Turbos still in the original boxes, a yellow one and a white one! Crying or Very sad

I paid WAY too much for them for 2 restorations that I haven't gotten around to yet. Sad

The worst part is that I don't even like these saddles because they are too round topped in the rear causing me discomfort.

I have 2 Bernard Hinault Turbos, 2-3 Bianchi Celeste Turbos, the above mentioned white and yellow ones plus 1 or 2 black ones and 1 or 2 Rolls, none of which I ride. Mad

Chasman

I don't think you'll have a problem on their value, Chas. The original with leather covers are still quite desirable.

I agree. I bet the new ones are vinyl covered sponges on the old Turbo base. Comes in 77 flavours for the hipsters on their fakenger fixies Rolling Eyes . Bunch of fixie pixies! Twisted Evil

If you want, Chas., you can send the "worthless" ones to me! But I still think they are fetching almost 100 or more (NOS) on ebay....
