поздравявам/приветствувам с добре дошъл
I bid on that frame too. My guess is that it's about a 1972 Tour de France.
The fork crown is a Nervex Dubois model.
My almost all original 1971 TdF has the older style Nervex Professional fork crown.
Why was I bidding one this frame (like I need another Gitane)?
I figured if I got it cheap enough I would do a complete restoration, new paint and all. |

I've mentioned this before but I'll do it again for new members. My first Gitane was a ~1972 orange Gran Sport. I walked in the Gitane dealer where they had maybe 50-100 bikes on the showroom floor. I looked over and said "I want that one!"
It was a 60cm which was about an inch to big for me but it didn't matter.
Later I got heavily into cycling and had several Gitane Super Corsas, a white one and a gold one. I longed for an Orange Super Corsa or even a TdF.
At the beginning of this year an orange 57cm 1971 TdF showed up on eBay. I got in touch with the seller and arranged to end the auction early. 35 years later I finally got my orange Gitane!
I'm going to post pictures of my Gitane one of these days... |

If you convert it to a fixed gear bike, please don't cut anything off. That would be a travesty...and you will get an earful from people on this site. Otherwise, we fully support your efforts to preserve the bicycle frameset. It appears that your bike is in need of some cosmetic help in order to prevent further rust from forming. My recommendation is to keep it the same orange, but that is just because I like it!
Chas.: Is that TdF you have pictured in your post a 57? It looks more like a 54/55....which, incidentally, is my size. I figure you are just "holding" that one for me.... |

Happy New Year!!!
I'm for shure will preserv the original elements of the frameset and will start to collect all original parts to restore some day the genuine look of the bike. |

First post. Just joined. Sorry to start on a negative. But somebody please tell me that this person didn't just say that this frame was mutatlated into a fixed. (another funeral). Hopefully hasn't and that is why no further pictures appear. |
