I may be wrong about this, but I think this is one of the only "classic" races to have never been won by Gitane. Someone prove me wrong!

192 Cedric Coutouly
193 Jimmy Engoulvent
194 Jérémie Galland

Juan Antonio Flecha wins the race for Sky. He dedicated the race to his team and to Frank Vanden Brouke. Generally, I am not a big fan of Spanish riders, but that was a classy performance and pretty cool to dedicated it to Frank.
I watched almost the entire race...and never saw any of the Saur riders, who didn't factor in the race at all. In fact, only 2 finished, which isn't good as far as impressing any of the organizers is concerned.
Hopefully, they are saving it for tomorrow.
Results:
1 Juan Antonio Flecha (Spa) Sky Professional Cycling Team 5:07:15
48 Jérémie Galland (Fra) Saur - Sojasun 00:03:51
119 Cedric Coutouly (Fra) Saur - Sojasun 00:11:14 |

Het Volk: As Stephen previously noted; 1. Juan Antonio Flecha; Spa. (Sky) ahead of the fine German rider Heinrich Hausler; Ger. (Cervelo). Our guys finished well down in the standings. Saur may have sent a team of new riders or a smaller one. The only two that I noted were;
48. Jeremie Galland; Fra. (Saur)
119. Cedric Coutouly; Fra. (Saur)

Bienvenue,

The team which was scheduled to start is listed above. Those are some vets....but who knows what happened out on the road. 248 riders were scheduled to start the race, and only 147 finished. |
