I was just contacted by a marketing person at Cycleurope regarding this site. They asked permission to use information from the site...and I said that I would work with them, depending on what they wanted.

The good news here is that Cycleurope seems to really be making a push with Gitane. The new line of bicycles this year, along with a team sponsorship, shows that they have shifted significant resources into pushing the Gitane brand. Now they are even reaching out to this site, which is a first.

Since everything we have built here has been a community effort, I will keep y'all informed as to what is going on. Thanks! here is a copy of the email that I received today from Cycleurope:

Dear Stephan,

My name is Lionel Bayard and I am the Export Area Manager at Cycleurope France.

I am contacting you regarding your website www.gitaneusa.com which I find absolutely amazing in terms of History and Heritage!

I am looking for some history content like pictures, catalogues, interviews...anything related to the History of our Brand. Could you please let me know if you could help me on that matter?

I would really appreciate your help,

Here at Cycleurope, everybody is amazed at your website. So you can be really proud of it!

Thanks you in advance,

Best regards,

Lionel

nice sandman, great job to you , its come a long way since yahoo groups eh? im suprised they dont have better photos , catalogs, other stuff at the factory in machecoul. did this stuff just disappear?i wonder how much memoribiala there is in the town itself hanging in a pub or someones garage or local eatery . or do the local folk really care about the place anymore? do they have bikes hanging from the ceiling or on display at the factory? we need to send TI COMMUTER out as a investigative reporter to check on this stuff Wink i think he lives close by .
