Hi can anybody help identify what model this bike is? I was given it by a friend from work. It has simplex derailleurs, Normandy hubs and Mafac racer brakes. Thanks for any help.

Curly,
Decals and color would indicate a 1975-76 model. What I find unusual/odd are the rear drop outs in combination with the chrome rear stays. Most from the period had what are known as "honeycomb" drop outs on the better models in the US and EU. Also, the braze on parts for cables and ??? Is there any indication that it is a Reynolds 531 frame? This may help narrow it down. Can you post more detailed photos? Likely a UK - Aussie model.

Looks like a 1975 or 76 Paris-Nice randonneur model. It has 14mm seat stays with a mount for a generator on the left stay.
The stem is a replacement. The Sugino Maxy may be a later model too.
The bike pictured below has black chainrings on a second generation 3 arm Maxi crankset but they may not have been used on the production bikes.

I believe you are correct Chas. I missed that model when looking at the catalogs.

Curly,
The brake levers shown in the catalog for the Paris-Nice model are the Mafac "Promotional", Course 135, light weight levers.
These came with some Mafac "Racer" center pull brakes of the period.
