Welcome to the forum. Nice bike.
Gitane was one of the few bike makers in the 70s that produced an affordable track bike. There were a lot of these sold during the US Bike Boom.
We usually kept one of the Track Standard models in stock at our bike shop. People bought them for training bikes. They originally sold for well under $100 USD. When business was slow or we got bored we would take the Gitane fixed gear display bike out for a spin.

And now my "Drool" factor has also really kicked in Gear !!
What a great set of track bikes, especially the last image of the late 60's or very early 70's with the larger headset foil sticker.
Any possibility of getting some additional close up images of the late 60's bike---especially the larger chrome headset foil sticker?
Discobiker these are just too cool, I'm sooooo envious.

Thanks for the additional images---I was just curious to see a close up of the larger foil headset tube sticker on some of the early 70's frames.
No wonder they went to the smaller design---the larger chrome sticker would have to have been made in several sizes---or laboriously trimmed to fit.
Thanks again

Disco,
What's the Number at the bottom of the Fork Decal on this bike? Hard to read in the photo.
Jay...not peddlin' fast anymore. |

Good point Jay,
I as others have probably wondered why the bottom part of the fork decal was missing on most later models.
When Chas & I were working with Greg at Cyclomondo about the replacement foil stickers last year, I never gave a thought about the bottom part of the fork decal appearing to be cut off.
Thanks Disco if you can help answer Jay's question.

Did you miss this thread a short while back?

Possibly we figured it out... only Etienne, the Gitane Graphic Artist, knows for sure.
Jay...who lost a different Original set to a bidder in Japan. |
