This is my first time posting here. I am interested in a Gitane for sale in my area, and I am new to buying a vintage bike. I've read other posts about the same kind of topic, but I would like help identifying this bike. Here is the description I was given:
LATE 70's. IT IS 55cm THATS 31" STAND-OVER HEIGHT. IT IS ORIGINAL PAINT THAT SHOWS IT'S AGE
MECHANICALLY IN GOOD CONDITION. IT HAS A NEW CHAIN, NEW CABLES AND HOUSINGS. NEW TIRES AND TUBES, NEW BRAKES, AND NEW HANDLE BAR TAPE. THE BEARINGS HAVE ALL BEEN REPACKED WITH GREASE. I RODE THIS BIKE ON A 75 mi TRIP LAST FALL AND IT PERFORMED WELL.
I AM ASKING $170
Thanks for all your help!

Yes, too expensive!!!
Likely a '76 with lots of scuffs and scratches to the frame.
