Greetings and welcome to the Forum.
Your bike appears to be one of the many models that Gitane produced for the European market only.
I'd guess based on the foil decals and components that it's from 1970 to 1974. Someone could have replaced the cranks and rear derailleur. The original brake levers would have been Mavic brand to go along with the brakes.
This looks like a randonneur or touring model based on an Interclub frame, like the Tour de L'Aviner/3. Look at the decals at the top of the forks. The model name should be there.
It may have come with cottered steel cranks or Sugino Maxi cranks plus a Huret Alvit or Svelto rear derailleur.

Yeah I forgot to say I live in France ( 30km from Nantes and so very close to Machecoul ).
The brakes are Mafac "racer", the decals only say "service course"(I'll look again tomorrow when it will be daylight) . On the side of the front fork the decals have the number 112, don't know if that means anything.
It's a 15 speed bike too, the frame size is a 19 and 1/2. |

There are some words at the top of the decal on the left fork. That is probably the model. It cold also be a Route de France.

Yes, Route de France was a European model from the early 70s. From the catalog description, it was basically an Interclub that was more for fast touring than racing.
The description says "cadre tubes allégés" meaning unbranded light weight tubes.
