Nice photo - I've never paid attention to cross bikes much. Are bar end shifters common on them? The one in the photo has them. |

Bar end shifters were standard on cross bikes through the 1980s...until they came out with "brifters". |

Great picture! I've been wrong enough times before, but this velo looks like an '88. That would make it a 753 bike. If it is an '89, it might be a 653 ((Reynolds 531 (possibly 531P) main frame and fork; Reynolds 753 stays)) bike. Toshiba rode Gitane Team 653 bikes, I believe, in '88-'89, Dura Ace equipped. U.S. "Replica 11" bikes came in in '89 equipped with Croce d' Aune. I do not believe that we got a cross model.
