Nice find. Lots of little nicks in the paint but, overall, looks like a really nice bike. Shipping is seems high even from Europe. |

there is a profile for sale on us ebay |
Hi lofter,
Long time no see. I figured that this would bring you out almost as fast as a Delta!
I use Firefox and couldn't see the specs at the bottom of the listing. I was wondering how big this was. Wow, 58cm is over the top for me.
There are some other interesting Gitanes on US eBay:
For starters there is this almost all original early 70s Gitane Track Standard that the seller says has lived a charmed live in a velodrome. It's been updated with an alloy cotterless crank:

Then there is the early 70s Interclub in the rare black color:

Next is the 1991 "Gara" frame from a French seller. There's no model listed in the early 90s Gitane catalog section by that name. There were a number of lower priced racing models that had the 3 main tubes made of Columbus "Gara" straight gage chrome moly tubing.

Here's another one from a French seller. This is an interesting mid ring French racing model in a very small 48.5cm size. the frame is made of Vitus 181 which was a chrome molly alloy tubing similar to Reynolds 501.

The last one of note is this aluminum frame only (no forks) from OZ.

There are several MTB frames and an Aerotub 102 (gas pipe) frame. |

whats up my friend ? yeah its been awhile . there is a bunch for sure. i , like alot of folks here, read the ebay ads ,craigslist ads from allofcraigs.com
and the link from the french site everyday religiously. hoping one day a delta will come along again or a penny farthing or any other odd gitanes. its just been cold, snowy and down right nasty here for awhile . im gettin cabin fever big time i pulled out the trainer and put a bike on it . but god how these things get boring, riding staring at a wall. you know, i wish we all could get together pick a neutral site for everybody and have a gitaneusa get together. that would be a blast! |

My cousin sent me this picture from Pittsburgh, PA - that's a yard stick!
I kind of figured you were snow bound!
I got out for a little bit yesterday afternoon. Had my latest project out for a few short test rides. This is my 1969 TdF that I bough for $200 about 2 years ago. I've been gradually overhauling it since then. This was the first time out and it rides pretty nice!
Before - with a 20 year layer of accumulated grime
After 2 years...
More pictures when it's gets sunny again! We're in the midst of our rainy season. |

Chas.,
I don't know why you can't see all of Alex's Profil listing. I use Firefox also and have no problem.
What I find interesting is that he increased his shipping charge from when he first posted it by $100.+. It was originally $220 shipping to USA when I first saw it.
My size but no interest.

That was a good spot Lofter and a really great buy for whoever won.
I'm continually amazed at how reasonably won many complete bikes are. There is little fathoming on my part as to final price.
Thanks for the post
