The Giro is starting in a few days, as is the Tour of California. While I am excited about this and looking forward to some great racing, there are storms breaking all over the place.
The last few weeks have seen a bunch of new doping positives. The newest to find themselves off the starting line are:
Franco Pellizotti (Liquigas-Doimo)
Jesus Rosendo Prado (Andalucia-Cajasur)
Tadej Valjavec (Ag2r-La Mondiale)
Read about it here: http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/uci-names-riders-snared-by-biological-passport
Ag2r's manager is PISSED OFF about it: http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/ag2r-team-manager-furious-with-valjavec
BMC's doper, Thomas Frei explained just how easy it is to use EPO and get away with it...oh...and he said he did it (and would still be doing it) for the money. Duh, thanks. The refreshing part of this case is that he actually admitted it, unlike Landis and co. Here is a link to the article if you care to read it. It is really eye-opening:

In the mean time, Saur-Sojasun's riders toil on looking for another victory. Hopefully they are all clean...which will make for slim results this season, sorry to say. But the soon-to-be-banned Valverde wins another race and leads the international standings. What a farce.
All of the doping news hasn't (yet) diminished my love of the sport and my excitement about the upcoming races. My fitness is great, I have my new Gitane to ride: All is going to plan!
I will be on Big Bear Mtn. for the Tour of California. I encourage all of you to join me there..... |

yeah, you want to spot a plane ticket across the Pacific Pond?
One day, I will watch the ToC live, ride with the Sandman, and drink fine Zinfandel with Chas. |
