i wonder if this is a real team bike ? look at that number tab its real round and filed out . my 83 replica the tab is straight with a curve on the end . and the stikers arent on the side of the seat tube. 107 cranks master pro brakes simplex sj 6600 r derailleur simplex shifters . little to do to this bike . |

I think it is...could be an optical illusion. The front derailleur, brake cable routing, rear dropouts, etc. all point to "real" 1983 TP. |

Stephan,
That's a very nice bike indeed. It looks like it has a Columbus sticker at the top of the seat tube, plus a Columbus sticker on the forks. It looks to be in original condition.

Heck, just to go into bike shops and look for parts - like long cage Simplex SX630 derailleurs (shoot, any SX derailleur) SJA102 front derailleurs, Stronglight cranksets, and stems/handlebars to fit the French stuff. |

Just heard from a friend in france. He tried to buy this...the seller was inundated with calls and a bidding war ensued. No idea what the final sale price was, but needless to say, it was more than the asking price! |

Stephan,
I'm not surprised at all. It's a super machine. Those retro friction gear levers alone could have made close to the price of the bike itself on Ebay if presented well, not to mention the other kit. However, I'm not a breaker as I prefer complete, original machines. Just pointing that particular component out for comparison and interest purposes.
No wonder the seller was deluged with calls. Good for them, I hope they sold well.
Prices on that website have been creeping up over the last year with many bikes now seeing three and four figures.
Thanks for the find.
Tim
PS Lofter, I like the shot of those MTBs. |
