Spotted this mixte on the Portland, OR Craigslist tonight. I didn't recognize the decals - possibly from the late-80's (late model vintage Gitane )
I'm not a big mixte fan but it's the first non-70's Gitane one I've seen. At least, I'm assuming non-70's.
The saddle is horrid on this thing.

Nope, it's a 1977. That bicycle was one that was imported by Gitane Pacific in the late 1970's...from JAPAN.
While the exact model doesn't appear in the catalogue, the decal style dates from circa 1977. Check 1977 the catalogue here:

Gitane did make mixtes in the 1980's, but you are right: They are rare in the USA. |

My bad - should have looked a little closer. I will say the shadow effect ont he downtube decal looks cool. That's what really caught my eye. |
