Hi all, I've recently acquired a 71 TdF frame and fork in pretty rough visual condition, and I think I will powdercoat it in the future. My question is, how much ot the frame is chromed? Are the fork, chain, and seat stays completely chromed under the paint? If they are completely chromed, I am considering painting / powdercoating the main triangle only. |

The chrome plating covers about 1/2 of the length of the chain and seat stays.
The forks were completely chrome plated but usually only the fork crown and bottom half of the fork blades were polished before plating.
If the chrome is badly corroded, I'd suggest having it lightly sand blasted before painting. |
