Hi Chas,
This trip back to California is a bit more complicated then usual since I could not get anything direct and we are coming into Los Angeles instead of San Francisco. Then we will be driving up to SanFrancisco bay area in a rental car (with family)
Also, with a stop over in Detroit of only one hour, it would be a bit just to guarantee that a bike gets safely transfered to the CA flight.
What I can do since I come to CA every 6 months is to keep it for you until the next trip. You would have to wait for 7 months but it would be no problem for me to store it and bring it over at that time.
The bike is in La Rochelle and if you have organized shipping, I can
receive it and open up, check it and photograph it for you, and then pack it back up.
Perhaps the seller can get it to the Paris area and I could then get it boxed up and stored until the next trip.
Anyway tell me what you think. You happened to get me on the first time in 10 years where I don't fly in directly to SF and decided on LA!!
If you need any help in contacting the seller just let me know.

Contacted guy and bike available but says will not ship but who knows.
Says perfect condition and I asked for more photos which he will not do for some reason I don't understand.
At this price in France I don't think its going anywhere fast.
A bit complicated maybe?

Dan,
Thanks for all of the investigative work. I was hoping that maybe the bike was close at hand and you could bring on the plane with you as extra baggage.
It's way to much effort for you so don't worry about it.
I have a 50cm 1985 Gitane Professional like the one for sale.
The brake levers don't look original, maybe Shimano aero levers?
The Campy Victory levers were convertible so they could be used with aero or standard cabling.
So much for all original... |

You know, he will not get the price he is asking for the bike. Nobody buys in France for these prices unless it is obviously a Super team pro or something. (prices are going up a little and I could be wrong but don't think so)
The yellow 1999 (I think) Gitane I posted I got for 90 euros. He was offered 60 by someone and accepted 90.
I finally sold my Orange Olympic/TDF for 210 euros and that was after awhile and to someone that really wanted it.
My nice Peugeot PSN10T which was perfect (much, much better quality than the Gitanes sorry to say) and light 9,3 kilos and beautifully made went for 160 euros.
The White single speed which was in perfect shape for 160 euros.
So, wait a bit and who knows what it will go for. My guess is around 180 euros and for that price I am sure there is a way to get it to paris area.
Anyway, I will watch it and contact from time to time.
I have the same Professional in a big frame size which I am finishing and they seem to have been all Campgnolo Victory so the listed bike looks to have been modified.
