Very nice bike but I don't think that it's a Gitane...
Someone has been selling these mixed sets of Gitane decals on eBay.
The silver foil down tube decals are from pre-1974 while the yellow decals were used from 1974 until 1976.
The Gitane head badge decal is from about 1975-76 while the misplaced head badge decal at the bottom of the seat tube is from 1974-75.
Gitane didn't use the style seat stay plugs that your bike has.
I'm guessing that it's from the early through mid 80s, maybe Japanese, US or even Italian. 
Someone assembled a nice bike with a mixed batch of components.
What size is the seatpost? What are the treads on the bottom bracket cups? |

| I agree with Chas. I don't think it is a Gitane at all. Gitane didn't use those types of pump pegs. |
