At first glance I though that this was some special late 80s Gitane model, perhaps one that I wasn't aware of.

On closer examination, what we have here is an an early 70s Gitane Super Corsa (or Olympic European version) frame that's had work done: all the braze-on have been added.
Also, the fork is most likely a Tange replacement. They were available with a metric steerer way back when.
The cross section of a Gitane fork with a slopping crown was never that thick.

Also the fork blades are domed at the bottom not fished mouthed like Gitane forks.

I sent a message to the seller asking some questions about it. He said that the person who brought it into the shop told him it was all original. Right!!!!! |
