Just got back from Southern California "Vacation" and found a big box with some frames that had been delivered.
The frames were well wrapped in foam tibes etc. but the box was totally trashed and it only came from Nantes (350 kilometers). The top of one frame was outside the box but still protected.
Last month an idiot sent me a paper thin tube Bertin time trial frame which was thrown into a big bike box with no wrapping of any kind except for an old tee shirt to keep the handle bars from hitting the top tube.
The tee shirt was on the bottom of the box. It was amazing that no damage was done not even a scratch and considering the thing was bouncing around in the huge box.
The frames I just received were listed a long time ago by a shop in Nantes that went out of business last year.
Just by chance, I came across an obscure "for sale" in a well hiddened
bike shop also in Nantes. These guys somehow got the frames and listed them on their site.
Called up and bought them.
'90's ? Gitane Time trial frames made of Vitus Triple Butted tubing.
57cm and 59 cm in good shape with no damage and set up with Mavic BB's.
Here is one of the frames. Lots of Vitus stickers and nicely constructed.
I find that these frames (funny bike style) ride well and look interesting when built up. This one will get another silly Mavic Mektronic electric activated shifter that I have laying around. These are great science fiction devices and very clever (French)
