Gitane Traveller FS, I have a brand new, never ridden, never assembled, Gitane Traveller, 59cm, Full Chrome frame 10 speed, Quick release on seat, HB's and wheels for easy loading into car. Full built in Generator light system front and tail. Dates from 1973. Very unique Bottom Bracket ahead of seat tube. Unique drop outs. Way different bike. Still packed as it came from Gitane 38 years ago. Still has protective coating on frame to protect chrome.

We sold a few of those Gitane Travelers in the early 70s. One was special ordered for a woman who was taking it to France!

The bike pictured is a late 74 or 1975 model and has alloy rims which take a few pounds off of the original 30 lbs.
Later versions came with Sugino Maxi cast aluminum cotterless cranks.
The bike came with a cloth traveling bag.
I'm thinking that they were between $200 and $300 new back then. |
