After first thinking about how to accomplish this forty years ago, I finally got to it. If anyone is interested in the gizmo I developed to attach a Campagnolo Nuovo Record derailleur to a Simplex dropout, I have posted a rather lengthy thread with pictures over on the Classic & Vintage section of bike forums. The bike is my '71 Gitane Tour de France. The idea, as you will see, was to accomplish this conversion without altering the dropout hanger in any way, which was the common method in days of yore. I didn't want to ruin my frame back then, and still don't. Here's what I came up with.
