I think I saw that in a catalogue...model name "Dethe Trappe" or similar. I think the "e's" at the end are silent.
I wonder where they are going to get the parts to fix that thing up, and what size is it??? |

I saw this beast on eBay too. I recall seeing something like it back in the 70s.
This is a rig job. I doubt that it's a Gitane built bike. Gitane stickers were easy to come by in the early 70s. They don't completely wrap around the oversized tubes.
The wheels are off of a small motorcycle and the fork looks like it came off of a motorcycle too. The "ape hanger" bars were not popular in Europe at that time.
There were some lugless French 650B tandem frames from the mid 1970s that a number of different French bike makers put their stickers on. I've seen the same frames from Folis, Gitane, Bertin and several other marques.

I remember seeing a B&W picture of one of these beasts in a trade journal in the mid 1970s but I don't remember the details.
I guess Gitane like Motobecane made motorcycles too:

That's probably where the wheels and fork came from. The "U" shaped downtube/seattube combos look just like the ones used on Gitane folding bikes w/o the joint.
These things must weigh a ton - or at least 50k.
Back in the day there were some Korean made tires for kids bikes - Dy Yung brand!
